What is the book layout?
The book layout is based on pages. Each layout is composed of texts, diagrams, etc. of different sizes in accordance with unified technical specifications. In the same book, regardless of its format and content, the text must be uniform in font size, line length, line spacing, etc., to maintain the basic consistency of the page center. Mainly handle the relationship between the title, page number, text, annotations and diagrams, so that the composition of the layout is clear, coordinated, beautiful, and easy to read.
Science and technology books and textbooks of colleges and universities mostly use 16 format. Such books often contain more formulas, charts and other content. The format is small and it is not easy to typeset. In addition, the number of pages is also large.
Magazines and periodicals have more content than books. The layout format and layout are divided into columns (two columns to four columns), the font size can be more flexible, and the layout can be larger than books.
In order to facilitate printing and machine binding and page matching, the number of pages is mostly 32, 48, 64 and other numbers that can be divisible by 16, and simple “saddle stitching” is used.
